Triangular Prostatic Stents

Allium’s unique large calibre, site-specific, triangular shaped, dynamic and easily removable prostatic stent implant, is uniquely designed to provide a long term, reversible solution for a period of up to 3 years. Allium’s unique prostatic stent implants have a large calibre triangular cross-section to match the contours of an enlarged male prostatic urethral lumen and have the ability to exert varying degrees of radial force depending on the anatomy. It has a higher radial force in its main body to maintain urine passage, and lower radial force in the area near the external sphincter to prevent sphincteric dysfunction and urinary retention or incontinence. These characteristics enable the Allium Prostatic Stent Implant to conform to the prostatic urethra, allow an excellent urine flow, and offer excellent patient comfort without jeopardising the voluntary continence mechanism. Furthermore, this procedure is fully reversible, which allows extraction of the stent at any stage if needed, without altering the anatomy as other invasive procedures do. The TPS implantation procedure takes about 15 minutes, and can be performed using either local, regional or light sedation types of anaesthesia. The procedure can be performed either in the physician’s office, outpatient, or an operating room set up, in order to allow a wider option of choices for the patient and the physician. Immediately following the procedure, once voiding has been confirmed, the patient can return home and resume his daily activities.
